The O.G. restaurant-reservation website has just announced a rebrand, with a fresh new look that includes two red circles for a logo, “the table is just the start” for a tagline, and a new color scheme. But aesthetics are just background noise: It’s actually become cooler than ever for New York restaurants to take reservations. Recent OpenTable converts include Franny’s, Ivan Ramen, and Pok Pok Ny.
Time will tell whether start-ups like Resy and Cover sink or swim — and if more restaurants adopt the ticketing system pioneered by Nick Kokonas — but, in the meantime, OpenTable is trucking along just fine.
